SOME INFORMATION

the electron onset times at 1 AU are determined by hand for the energy range between 30 and 300 keV. the onset times are determined from the flux coming from the Sun direction (in the ApJ paper (1999), the omnidirectional flux is used). However, for most events, it does not make a difference.
the shown error bars are lower and upper limits (cf. ApJ paper and ApjL). So if it says onset time = 10:10+-05, it means that the onset time is before 10:05 and not later than 10:15.
Often there are only 3 energy channels with a clear onset. Therefore, the release times are determined by assuming that the path length is equal to the Parker spiral length (cf. ApJ paper). A linear fit to the inverse beta plot (i.e. fitting the release time AND the path length) gives often very large uncertainties. However, within the accuracy, the results of both methods are more or less the same.
In the table presented below, 500 seconds are added to the release times, so that one can directly compare with the onset of the radio emissions
the onset of the radio emission is determined from the 14 MHz radio data. contrary to the paper (ApJ 1999), I am using high resolution data (wi_lz_wav_yyyy-mm-dd.dat) and not the overview data (wi_k0_wav_yyyy-mm-dd.dat). in the high resolution data, smaller III's can be seen next to the biggest type III's, whereas in the overview data, the strongest III's dominate the emission. therefore, there are a lot more electron events which correlate with III than mentioned in the ApJ paper (1999). very often though, it is not the strongest type III which temporally correlates with the electron release, but a weaker and later occurring one. Still, there are some events with no corresponding radio emission.
