PRELIMINARY onset time analysis of ISEE 3 Energetic Electron Events

some comments:

Event spikes onset at 2.0-2.3 keV onset at 2.7-3.5 keV onset at 4.2-10 keV onset at 19-45 keV onset at 45-272 keV onset at 272-? keV SOLAR electron release time: timing relative to spikes in minutes (pos=electrons are later, neg=earlier) COMMENTS
1978-09-27 14:37 gap ok ok ok ok no 13+-4 / 8+-4 / -2+-4 / lowest energy is on time, others are late.
1978-09-28 14:00 ok ok ok no no no 12+-5 / 6+-5 / -3+-5 late
1978-10-05 14:04 ok ok ok unclear unclear unclear no dispersion! 4-10 keV onset at 14:00 or earlier. I am not sure that this event is solar. next to the lack of dispersion, the time profiles at all energies look the same.
1978-10-21 16:01 OK OK OK weak weak NO 21+-6 / 15+-6 / 5+-6 low energies delayed, high energies maybe on time
1978-10-30 10:25 unclear unclear unclear unclear unclear unclear -34+-10 / -38+-10 / -43+-10 there is enhanced flux around that time at low energies, but the onset is not very clear. the onset times in the plots are really 'optimistic' guesses. is this really a solar event?
1978-10-31 10:24 unclear unclear unclear unclear unclear unclear -55+-7 / -62+-7 / -74+-7 there is enhanced flux around that time, but the there is not much dispersion. there are two energies with dispersion, but it is much earlier. is there really a solar event around 10:40? there is no velocity dispersion at all at high energies.
1978-12-13 14:54 no ok ok no no no 6+-6 / -1+-6 / -13+-6 on time, two channels only
1978-12-26 12:17 ok ok ok ok unclear no -2+-4 / -8+-4 / -17+-4 on time, low energies slighly off
1978-12-26 13:14 unclear ok ok ok ok unclear 1+-4 / -3+-4 / -13+-4 on time, low energies slighly off, same as the event occurring an hour earlier
1979-04-29 07:31 ok ok ok unclear no no 18+-7 / 12+-7 / 2+-7 large background from previous event, onsets therefore with larger uncertainties. still, seems to be delayed.
1979-05-02 16:57 ok ok ok unclear unclear unclear 0+-4 / -6+-6 / -16+-6 on time, dispersion slightly off
1978-05-03 10:41 unclear unclear unclear no no no no dispersion in onset, dispersion in peak flux only, only below 10 keV. the onset times give release times (+8min) of 10:40 or earlier. for some reason the fluxes at low energies seem to rise earlier.
1979-08-14 17:28 ok ok unclear unclear unclear unclear -29+-6 / -34+-6 / -39+-6 electrons too early????
1979-09-06 0906 data gap during onset
1979-09-06 11:39 unclear ok unclear ok ok no 14+-4 / 9+-4 / -1+-4 late
1979-09-06 13:32 unclear unclear ok ok ok no 13+-3 / 8+-3 / -3+-3 late
1979-09-06 16:45 unclear unclear unclear unclear ok no only at 45-272 keV, very weak, high background. relative release time at this energy is +21, +11,+1 minutes after radio
1979-09-13 14:53 ok ok ok ok no no 15+-6 / 9+-6 / -1+-6 late
1979-09-30 10:41 unclear unclear unclear ok no no 1+-5 / -4+-5 / -17+-5 on time, unclear dispersion below 10 keV
1979-10-09 11:54 ? ok ok no no no late / late / late unclear disp, late
1979-10-29 07:47 no no no OK ok no 7+-4 / 3+-4 / -5+-4 almost on time
1979-11-03 14:41 unclear unclear maybe OK OK NO 12+-5 / 9+-5 / 0+-5 sligthly delayed or on time?, IP radio emission shows that there are several type III's going on, at least 4. maybe the onset times at 1AU are produced by a different events at different energies
1979-11-09 12:28 gap gap gap ok no unclear 15-+10 / 10+-10 / 2+-10 only one onset outside of data GAP
1979-11-10 11:42 OK weak weak no no no 17+-5 / 11+-5 / 1+-5 late
1979-11-14 11:03 NO NO NO ok ok NO 10+-5 / 6+-5 / -2+-5 only two channels, late
