SHINE
(Solar, Heliospheric, and
INterplanetary Environment)
SHINE is an affiliation
of researchers within the solar, interplanetary, and
heliospheric communities, dedicated to promoting
enhanced understanding of and predictive capabilities for
solar disturbances that propagate to Earth.
SHINE is intended to:
- serve as a forum for discussion, development, and dissemination of ideas
and results related to interplanetary aspects of space weather research
- facilitate the development of community views on the most compelling
and productive research tasks and observational campaigns to be undertaken
- offer opportunities for instigating new collaborations
- provide a voice for the community and the organizational framework
needed to ensure that useful meetings and workshops are conducted to
effect progress on identified objectives.
Membership is open to all interested parties, and participation
in SHINE by members of the international community is welcomed.
Organizational aspects of SHINE are handled by a
steering committee.
An email list
for SHINE members has been established. Individuals on this list
receive periodic announcements of SHINE activities. To
add your name (or to have it removed), please notify
vpizzo@sec.noaa.gov.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Flash news items and urgent messages to the SHINE community will appear
here.

RPC (Rapid Prototyping Center) TOOLS
One of the ultimate goals of SHINE is a system
of predictive "tools" for forecasting and
characterizing solar and interplanetary conditions and
disturbances. Authors of WWW sites containing
potential contributions to our testbed toolbox
below are invited to contact the webmaster.
(NOTE: Inclusion here does not imply that any screening
or review, other than for appropriateness, has been
carried out by the SHINE group!)
The current SHINE RPC tools include:
SHINE MEMBER PUBLICATIONS
An opportunity to advertize works of interest to the SHINE space weather
community. Titles, author list, and one-line "bullet" summaries of papers
available in preprint or reprint form may be forwarded to vpizzo@sec.noaa.gov
for listing here.
FORUM
A moderated newsgroup open to all for discussion of SHINE-related
topics.
EDUCATION / PUBLIC OUTREACH
Materials developed for academic educational purposes and presentation
of science to the general public will be featured here. Interesting
space weather graphics are especially solicited for display.
SPACE WEATHER LINKS
Web links to various space weather sites will be
listed here. Suggestions for additions are invited.
FEEDBACK
Correspondence concerning the SHINE WWW pages should be addressed to
vpizzo@sec.noaa.gov.
