Auroral Crossing Data: Orbits 176 and 212
Fast Status - Orbit 220 Tuesday, September 10, 7:00pm EST
Currently, wires A, C, and D have finished the 1st stage of deployment. Both
the outer and inner spheres have been released. Wire B
is still not deployed. We are continuing attempts to free it.
With three wires successfully deployed, we will be able to carry out
all of the FAST scientific objectives. The sensors are working
very well. The DC electric field waveform (V5-V8) has very little
distortion at the current 12-m baseline. The VLF and HF data have
extremely low noise. Some examples of auroral crossings are attached.
